The new Samsung Galaxy A5 is a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display smartphone loaded with the Android KitKat OS. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and 2 GB RAM. It is a premium metallic unibody build smartphone with slim design (6.7mm thick) and light-weight. It supports single SIM card with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, and 2G network connectivity.
Samsung has already lost the huge lead it had as the smartphone market leader. This happened mainly due to its same boring plastic build and same design for most of the smartphones and its non-competitive pricing. There were even sub-Rs.10,000 metallic build phones available in the market but Samsung even launched its mid-range smartphones in the same old plastic build with same design for all phones. Who will buy Samsung’s Rs.10,000 phone if the same or better specs phone is available at around half the price in better design/build-quality ?
I think Samsung has learnt its lesson but to me it seems to be quite late (It has already seen huge decline in its profits this year). Many brands benefited from this Samsung’s lazy approach and are now one of the top smartphone brands in India (and world) , like Xiaomi, Motorola, Lenovo, Micromax, etc.
Anyway, better late than never, Samsung has launched its first metallic build mid-range slim smartphones series in a new design. One of the smartphone in this new Samsung Galaxy A series is the new Samsung GALAXY A3 with 4.5″ qHD display and other is this new Samsung GALAXY A5. The new phones comes in unibody metallic encasing and sports rectangular sides with round edges as in iPhone 5s. The phones are launched in variety of light, sober colors. Both these smartphones are almost similar except larger display (5″ HD vs 4.5″ qHD), more RAM (2GB vs 1GB), more in-built storage (16GB vs 8GB) and better rear camera (13MP vs 8MP) in the Samsung Galaxy A5 .
